My pick of the greatest budget handset right now is still the Motorola Moto G7 Power, boasting incredible battery life thanks to the 5000mAh cell – but beyond that, you also get smooth performance for gaming on the go and a respectable 13MP camera that can shoot 4K video. Stunning value for money.
Providing hot competition is the Realme 3 Pro, which also offers impressive longevity – although not quite as strong as the G7 Power. You get a snazzy design, worthy camera tech, and respectable performance, all for a cheap price under £200.
Next up is Sony’s Xperia L3, its fresh new affordable phone for 2019. That Mediatek chipset isn’t exactly a powerhouse, yet the specs are decent for the sub-£200 cost. We love the crisp, colourful display and smart design, two traits also shared by the Nokia 6.1. Although HMD’s mobile rocks some stock Android, just like Motorola’s blower.
And if your budget can’t stretch to those, the Nokia 4.2, Moto E5 and Moto E5 Plus are also great handsets at closer to the £150 to £100 mark.
Rounding off my reviews of the greatest budget phones, we look at the Honor 10 Lite and Huawei P Smart 2019. This pair are almost identical, from the dual lens camera tech to the rest of the specs, and the EMUI launcher adds some very nifty features.
I’m hoping to add Samsung’s Galaxy A20e to this list soon, stay tuned for more!
